Foo dogs are actually Chinese Guardian Lions. It is Westerners who named them Foo dogs or Buddha dogs. Some call them Fu dogs. The Chinese will most often refer to them as Shi which means lion. They are usually made of stone, steel or copper1.“佛狗”实际上是指中国的守门狮子。是西方人给它们起名为“佛狗”。有些人叫它们“福狗”。中国人通常称他们为“狮”，意思是狮子。它们通常由石材、铁或者铜制成。
